Who doesn’t love a good thrift store? They are perfect for household goods, pre-loved books, recycled toys, decorative items, and re-making your wardrobe on a budget. What’s better? Knowing that your thrift store purchase (or donation) makes a difference in the life of someone in your community. At Nashville Home Organizers, we proudly support our local thrift stores! If you’ve worked with us in the past or read any of our blogs, you’ll know that a crucial stage in any decluttering project is removing unwanted items. Once you are ready to donate your items, we take great care in finding a good home for them. As a long-time Middle Tennessee resident, Melanie has developed a lasting relationship with the local thrift stores and donation centers. When your items are ready for a new home, she loads them up and brings them to a local donation center. Let’s look at three outstanding local centers that are adding value to the community! Treasure Hunters Thrift StoreWhat Is the Mission of Treasure Hunters?“Giving hope and help to strengthen our community.” Treasure Hunters is a local, affordable thrift store that is open to the public. They carry clothes, shoes, small furniture pieces, household goods, seasonal decor, books, CDs, and more! All proceeds from the store go directly to The Goodlettsville Help Center, which provides emergency food and financial assistance to those in our community who are low-income, unemployed, disabled, or transient. Why Melanie Recommends Treasure Hunters:“We take the majority of our client’s donations to Treasure Hunters, and they are always so happy to receive them! Our clients are so relieved to know that their donations will positively impact our immediate community.” Treasure Hunters Thrift Store is located at 600 S. Main St. in Goodlettsville, TN, and it’s open Monday through Saturday from 10-4. House2Home NashvilleWhat Is the Mission of House2Home Nashville?“Bringing HOPE by turning empty rooms into homes: providing new beds and gently used furnishings for recently homeless people.” House2Home Nashville focuses on the segment of the Nashville homeless population trying to get a new start. To meet these needs, House2Home provides a free service to pick up donated furniture and household items in good condition. They also raise money to buy new beds. Why Melanie Recommends House2Home Nashville:“I love that House2Home strives to provide great quality items for their clients. They believe everyone is worthy of having nice things in their homes regardless of their situation. They want their clients to be able to take pride in their new home and not just settle for someone's discarded leftovers. I love their mission and the fact that they are willing to come to pick up bulky items free of charge.” House2home Nashville is always looking for helping hands and donations.
